Nous nous proposons, durant ces journées, de poursuivre la reprise lacanienne des moments importants de l'histoire de la psychanalyse, entamée lors des journées Ferenczi après Lacan à Budapest en juin 2006.
Nul ne peut contester que Winnicott fut un analyste non moins inventif que Ferenczi dans sa pratique, et non moins préoccupé, sans doute, par la place de l'analyste dans la cure. Relevons que cette inventivité l'amena à une mise en jeu de la place de l'analyste échappant aux canons de l'orthodoxie. Mais il évita en même temps les pièges de la symétrie dans la relation analyste-analysant.
On se souviendra, à cet égard, qu'il y a chez Winnicott une conceptualisation qui est en rupture avec toute conception d'un intersubjectif centré sur le spéculaire : c'est l'idée d'un " objet transitionnel ", qui vient défaire les représentations usuelles du narcissisme et de la relation d'objet, et qui se prolonge dans la problématique structurale d'un " espace transitionnel ". Ajoutons qu'il ne cessa de se préoccuper du social et du politique, en présentant, notamment, l'adolescent comme un baromètre du social.
Lacan dit très clairement ce que son objet a devait à l'objet transitionnel. Il fit d'ailleurs de Winnicott, que l'un des premiers il introduisit en France, un de ses interlocuteurs privilégiés, qu'il s'agisse de l'objet ou du self. Par exemple, renversant la problématique de Winnicott, il fit valoir que " l'important (...) n'est pas que l'objet transitionnel préserve l'autonomie de l'enfant, mais que l'enfant serve ou non d'objet transitionnel à la mère ".
On voit que les questions ne manqueront pas.

This conference aims to continue Lacan's exploration of crucial moments in the history of psychoanalysis following on from the conference "Ferenczi after Lacan" held in Budapest in June 2006.
There is no doubt that Winnicott was as inventive an analyst as Ferenczi in his practice and no less preoccupied by the place of the analyst in the treatment. This inventiveness led him to a formulation of the place of the analyst which did not fit well with psychoanalytic orthodoxy. At the same time, he avoided the snare of symmetry in the relation between analyst and analysand.
We should remember here that Winnicott's work breaks with any conception of intersubjectivity based on the specular register: this was the idea of the "transitional object", which ran counter to the usual representations of narcissism and object relations, and which was developed in the structural concept of a "transitional space". Likewise, Winnicott was always preoccupied with social and political questions, in particular, with his idea that adolescence should be seen as a barometer of the social.
Lacan said clearly that his "object a" owed something to Winnicott's transitional object. He thus made of Winnicott one of his privileged interlocutors, whether it was in regard to the concept of the object or the self. Inflecting Winnicott's idea, he emphasised how "the important thing.... is not that the transitional object preserves the autonomy of the child, but whether the child functions or not as the transitional object of the mother".
The London conference will elaborate many of these questions.
